About Friendship Support Association

Our Origins

Friendship Support Association (FSA) was established and legally registered in Ethiopia in 2007 by a group of volunteers who care about the needs of Afar people in Ethiopia. FSA re-registered from Ministry of Justice on 13th November 2009 in accordance with the new charities and societies’ proclamation No. 0621/ 2009 with the license number 0624. Friendship Support Association, (FSA) governed by a general assembly and board of directors.  

Since its foundation FSA has worked in a variety of projects in Afar region, in various districts (Dullessa, Argoba especial Woreda, Awash Fentale, Amibara, gala’alo and Afambo). 

Vision

To see a literate, healthy, self-reliant and productive community that is capable of solving its economic, social and environmental problems in Afar regional state

Mission

To fill the gap in information, resource and technical skill in community based development initiatives in order to bring a sustainable development and change in living condition of the community.

Overall Goal

To empower the Afar communities to manage their own economic, social, environmental and health problems and work towards poverty free society based on their own skills, knowledge and resources with a minimum dependence on external support.
